Butterflies, beautiful butterflies.
4 years ago I first met Stephen as I photographed his son Peter's wedding. I was taken aback at the time by the sincerity of the family. A lot changes over time, not least my photography and obviously my blogging skills but not the Dudleys, apart of course from the addition of the beautiful little Finn who has certainly stolen his Grandads heart.
This was my first of two consecutive Irish Italian weddings. Kathrina did not surprise me one bit when she told me of her Italian heritage, she is bubbly, energetic and so loving, everything you expect would come with Italian blood.
On one of the most beautiful days of the year I arrived early at the hidden gem that was the church for the ceremony. With the sun beating down on me I was thrilled by the sheer beauty of my surroundings. As soon as I stepped out of the car 3 little white butterflies came to greet me, beautiful and delicate. I stood watching (and photographing) the reactions of the guests as they approached the church through a tree lined passage and pondered recently searching for the meaning of these since one took residence in my garden.
After a beautiful ceremony myself, Kathrina and Stephen took a little stroll. As I often do I asked them to walk ahead of me holding hands as I photographed. Calling ahead and asking them to stop and look at each other, I composed another shot, as I asked for Kathrina and Stephen to kiss I noticed through my viewfinder that 2 of these beautiful butterflies, the purest of white, were now circling them. I have a feeling that Kathrina and Stephen appreciated the beauty of the moment just as I did.
Butterflies can symbolise pure souls, a meaning of luck and when crossed on a momentous occasion such as a wedding it is believed that the butterfly is ushering you along the path of life, into happiness and joy.
My wonderful Kathrina and Stephen, I ask that along your path of happiness you both look and notice these little things for it is the small things in life that often mean the most, pay attention to these small things and everything else will fall into place.
With all of my love,
