On the morning of February 20 I arrived to Antoinette's house excited and a little more than excited. Having lived in New Zealand for the last few years it had been quite some time since we were together. As I sat on the bed by Anti though I felt that feeling again that she gives you, you know when you think wow I love this girl!
I had already been to see the boys, I may have squeezed Micheal a little too hard when I arrived but I was so happy to see him. Little Logan slept upstairs as we shot the boys getting ready but as soon as he was brought down my heart melted. The most beautiful little baby and my friends made him. My did I feel proud of them right there.
With the girls, things were a bit rushed, Anti had wanted to do her own hair as many a hairdresser do but being unwell with flu and the excitement of the day it just wasn't happening. As many a time before I took over, nervously threading her hair for a style I had never before attempted or even seen being done. Kim the bridesmaid clicked away a few shots on the camera as I concentrated as hard as I could to get the job done. Oh how many times had we done this before, uncountable but never this much pressure.
When finally Anti walked up the aisle and took Micheal's hand I was already so overcome with emotion I could not tell you the song that played. I remember the call that said she had met a boy, not long after I had met my husband yet I was still slightly heartbroken. From the way she spoke about Micheal I knew things would never be the same again. Anti's family had just moved to Cavan and I had bought my first house in Navan. Being a real Dublin girl she didn't want to settle in the country, she was nervous, afraid of how she would meet new people, me being an absolute chicken, I was afraid to be in the house alone so Anti and another friend took it in turns to stay with me. 3 or 4 nights a week in fact. They pretty much minded me. I was so used to having her around I was petrified of her not being there but at the same time I knew it was the best thing for her. Meeting Micheal made Anti want to be in Cavan, she quickly started to settle there just as my now husband came to live with me. All of a sudden we were growing up properly.
Micheal couldn't be better for Anti, he is her best friend which is just how it should be. He praises the ground she walks on, anticipates her next emotional breakdown and is there to cuddle her and make her feel better whenever is needed. They went through so much, so young, moving out of home to live together and work in Dublin, moving back, losing a very dear loved one and yet through everything they have just become stronger, strong enough to move to the other side of the world together and set up their own life.
Anti I am so proud of the woman you have become, so in love with little Logan and so happy for you both. Micheal it's been such a long time since I have seen you both together that I feel like I am learning all over again why you are so perfect for my Anti. Thank you for all those moments when you cuddled her, you brought a tear to my eye as you were minding her whilst dancing and I am so happy you have finally made Anti your wife.
I love you guys even more now having shared this day with you and hope that one day you will be back home to share many more.
My love always
