On a bright September morning it could have been the best day of summer 2015, the type of weather that puts a smile on everyone's face. Arriving at Jackie's family home the girls were relaxed and calm. Although the morning of the wedding was the first time I met Jackie, I did know pretty quickly that she obviously had every detail organised meticulously. Hair and makeup was almost finished, little Katie was filled with excitement and Dad was pacing the house filled with nerves and pride, exactly as any wedding morning should be.
Sometimes in life we meet people who just make us feel at home. With the warmth shown to me by all of the girls, and maybe a little bit of the dislike of photography by the boys I really did feel like I was with my own and if this is how I felt in just one day I can completely understand how Jackie and Dessie came to be, travelling the world, away from those they loved, they found home. Home is where love resides and with this perfect couple there is love in adundance, a clear mutual respect and enjoyment of every moment spent together. Jackie and Dessie may know more than most how important it is to enjoy the time you spend together, considering through the trips home they often spend time apart. I have no doubt in my mind that each moment together is cherished, even more so since the beautiful little Katie arrived.
Katie needs a little bit of attention here too. She is such a well behaved, well mannered and perfectly balanced little beauty. Of course she is the apple of Mammy and Daddy's eyes but with her infectious little personality, funny little attitude and beautiful little bright face combined she has wormed her into the hearts of every person present at this wedding, including myself. Mr. Kennedy may have given his daughter away but Dessie and Jackie gave him Katie, my words could never describe the pride, love and devotion, no tape could measure the pedestal that he has put little Katie upon, all I can say is looking into his eyes as he spoke to me of how proud he was on this day told me the meaning of life, love and family.
Jackie and Dessie, it is not the walls we sit within, not even the land we sit upon that matters, it is what is in our hearts and no matter where you are in the world, in your hearts not only do you carry each other and your gorgeous little girl but also your family and friends so you can never be too far away. Remember that missing someone is not about how long it has been since you have seen them, it is about realising in a moment that you wished they were standing right next to you, in simple terms, you can miss someone when they are in the very next room. To make up for the time you may spend apart in the coming weeks and months I wish for you to remember this and ensure that while you are on the same land, you will never need to miss each other, treasure those moments and you will continue to treasure each other, for the rest of your lives.
I wish you the warmth and kindness in every day that you both showed to me on your wedding day and I thank you again and again for allowing me to be there and capture your wonderful love.
My love and respect goes to you both,
