The house was buzzing when I arrived on the morning of Mairead and Dave's wedding. The girls were so excited, Mairead beaming from ear to ear. There is something special about Mairead, she is a beautiful person who is determined to enjoy every moment of her life. Having chosen Dave to be her husband it goes without saying that this will be a life full of laughter and joy.
Dave loves the bones of Mairead, every little piece of her. His face lights up when you mention her name, she is, and always will be his queen. The thing is, when a man finds his queen he wants to build her a castle and Dave has done that already so who knows what else he has in store for his beautiful bride.
Although there were temporary nerves on the morning these were quickly bypassed and Mairead went on to enjoy her morning preparations and arrived at the church promptly. Her dad was so delighted to walk her down the aisle, welling up as he gave her hand to her new husband.
We went from the perfect setting of our Lady Chapel in Maynooth on to Finnstown Castle on a December day that felt like an average September day. The temperatures hit 19 degrees, I can only imagine Maireads beloved mother was helping her out and ensuring she had a day to enjoy. And enjoy she did. After some beautiful speeches Mairead and Dave took to the dance floor to the awesome sounds of Hard to Touch and danced the night away.
For me this day was an absolute pleasure, spending my days with people who are so happy is more than I can ever have dreamt for in my working life and today was no exception. Dave and Mairead, I beg you always look at each other the way you did on this day. Remember how tightly you grasped each others hands and in times of need hold on again.
Have a very happy Christmas,
